FCC TO HEAR VARIETY OF VIEWS ON AOL-TIME WARNER MERGER
Announces Panelists and Schedule for Public Hearing

Washington, DC -- The Federal Communications Commission announces the agenda and speakers who will appear at the America Online Time Warner en banc hearing on July 27, 2000. The purpose of this hearing is to assist the Commission in its review of the joint applications of America Online, Inc. (“AOL”) and Time Warner, Inc. (“Time Warner”) for approval of the transfer of Commission licenses and authorizations to a new entity, AOL Time Warner, in connection with the merger of AOL and Time Warner. The schedule and draft agenda are attached to this news release.

The en banc will be held on July 27, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Federal Communications Commission in the Commission Meeting Room, 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. The en banc will be open to the public, and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The FCC does not have a press filing facility so reporters should make their own arrangements.

Because the Commission cannot accommodate all requests to participate in the en banc hearing, the public is invited to submit written testimony for the record. Parties who have already filed written comments need not re-file or re-state their previously filed comments. Two (2) copies of all written testimony filed should be submitted by Friday, August 18, to Magalie Roman Salas, Secretary, Federal Communications Commission, 445 Twelfth Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554. Persons filing testimony should also provide one (1) copy of their filing to each of the following persons located at the above address: Linda Senecal and Royce Dickens of the Cable Services Bureau, and James Bird, Office of General Counsel (Room 8-C824), as well as one (1) copy to International Transcription Service, Inc., 1231 20th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. Testimony may also be filed electronically. For information on electronic filing or information on how to obtain copies of other documents filed in this proceeding, please refer to the Commission’s March 27, 2000 public notice in this proceeding (DA00-689) or contact one of the persons listed below. The March 27 public notice and other information about the merger can be found on the Commission’s web site at http://www.fcc.gov/transaction/aol-tw.html and http://www.fcc.gov/csb.
