COMMISSIONER SUSAN NESS
REGARDING NOMINATION OF GLORIA TRISTANI
TO BE AN FCC COMMISSIONER

I congratulate Gloria Tristani on her nomination to serve as a member of the Federal Communications Commission. Her experience as a state public utility commissioner will be invaluable as the FCC continues its efforts, in partnership with the states, to facilitate local telephone competition, bringing new services and affordable rates to consumers.

I am delighted that the Administration has now nominated a full slate of new Commissioners and that the Senate Commerce Committee has scheduled prompt confirmation hearings. The Commission faces a host of pressing issues, and I look forward to working on them in the coming years with my new colleagues.
