Audio Spot: Students survey Oak Ridge area creeks
Oak Ridge researcher Mike Ryon, who worked with students from several states, said the report could have far-reaching applications regarding the area creeks.
"We generally provide it to local authorities to help them evaluate the conditions in the streams," Ryon said. "We're also using the sediment measures as part of our larger bio-monitoring programs we do here at the national lab. We'll probably try to incorporate some these sediment measure techniques in our regular monitoring that we do for the state."
The students were part of an educational program conducted by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
