Mayor Martin Chávez and ABQ RIDE are pleased to announce the continuation of the successful Discover A Book program.  Launched in 2006, the city has collected more than 20,000 books to be placed on all city buses throughout Albuquerque. 

"Children will now be able to board the bus and read a book while traveling to their destination," said Mayor Chávez. "This is an example of our commitment to provide the community with a meaningful and educational experience on our transit system.”

ABQ RIDE began collecting books in the spring of 2006 with several book drives.  Businesses in the community were quick to join in with this great cause by placing donation boxes in their stores or by providing monetary donations to purchase the racks.
