Albuquerque residents can take trash to one of three public drop-off locations, known as Convenience Centers, within the city. During 1997, more than 120,000 tons of trash were collected at the Convenience Centers for transfer to the Cerro Colorado Landfill. The Convenience Centers also function as additional drop-off sites for recyclables, to complement the city's curbside recycling program. See more information on recycling.

The convenience centers are provided for city and county residents and small commercial haulers only. Check out the Cerro Colorado Landfill for information on commercial trash disposal.

All convenience centers are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

North Side-

Disposal Fees

For only $3.60 per load, you may take your excess trash/yard waste to any of the Solid Waste Management Department's Convenience Centers listed above. Commercial waste is $9.50 per load. Tarp your vehicle's load to avoid a clean-up fee of $5.80. **Rates subject to change ** For more information call (505) 761-8100.

Limited Acceptance

Xeriscape materials and other landscape materials such as sod, dirt and small gravel is not accepted at the convenience centers. Residential customers may obtain special written permission from the convenience center supervisor and transport the load to the Cerro Colorado Landfill for a reasonable commercial fee.

Loads of dirt, including petroleum contaminated soils (Cerro Colorado Landfill only) require a manifest and prior approval. Contact Solid Waste Management's Environmental Compliance Monitor at (505) 761-8328 for information on proper disposal.

Customers may bring up to, but not more than, 10 standard size tires to Eagle Rock and Montessa Park Convenience Centers per visit.  Don Reservoir will accept no more than five standard tires per visit.
