GROWTH HABIT, RATE: ADAPTABILITY:
Upright and irregular, rapid growth, final size is cultivar dependent.
The dwarf cultivars are quite dense.
ADAPTABILITY:
Tolerates both drought and wet soils. Salt tolerant.
FUNCTIONS:
Screen, hedge, barrier, foundation.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Leaf miner and mites, especially on the dwarf cultivars. May require
pruning to maintain desired form. For fruit production, a male pollinator
is required.

SUBSPECIES, VARIETIES, CULTIVARS:
The size group above refers to the species. The cultivars 'Nana' (female clone)
and 'Schilling's Dwarf' (male clone) grow less than 3 feet high into a broad
compact mound.
'Pendula'- weeping forms.
Several other cultivars are mentioned in Dirr. Yaupon is quite well-adapted
in southern landscapes.
