Message from the Director
to all Internet Users

As a pilot project, the Bureau will be placing some of its replies to public inquires on the Internet. These replies will address alcohol issues, tobacco issues or firearms and ammunition excise tax issues. You will be able to reach these replies from the ATF web site. From the main page of the ATF web site, select the Core Area tab, the Alcohol, Tobacco or Firearms tab, and the Information tab.

Placing these replies on the Internet will improve how the Bureau conducts business and serves its customers. Wider access to our replies will inform the public about our decisions. We will delete the names, addresses, and other identifiers to protect the privacy of the inquirer. Trade or proprietary secrets and taxpayer information will also be deleted.
