New And Improved NLM Visitors Center Is Open For Business

The NLM Visitors Center has had a complete makeover and is back in business. The facility, on the first floor on NIH Building 38A (the Lister Hill Center), has been enlarged and redecorated, and will soon feature new interactive displays highlighting NLM programs and services. With an exciting 12-minute video, "Expanding the Medical Universe," a high-definition projection system and state-of-the-art sound system, the popular interactive attraction "Turning the Pages" and other features, the NLM tours are better than ever. Guests are welcome to join the 1:30 public tours, conducted each weekday except federal holidays. The one-hour presentation features a walking tour that includes the computer room, reading room, exhibition space and History of Medicine Division, in addition to the videotape and a demonstration of NLM databases. Reservations are not required for the 1:30 tour, but if you plan to bring a group of more than five people, we greatly appreciate a call or e-mail in advance (Melanie Modlin, 301-496-7771, mm354i@nih.gov). We are also happy to arrange special tours of the Library for you. Again, please contact Melanie Modlin for more information.

With advance notice, we can show the NLM video in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian or Spanish. An open-captioned, English language version of the video is also available for our visitors.
