Equal Employment Opportunity

TVA’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy

TVA provides equal opportunity in employment to all employees and applicants; prohibits discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and over), disability, and reprisal; and develops comprehensive affirmative-action programs designed to overcome the effects of past or present employment policies that may operate as barriers to equal opportunity.

Equal Opportunity Compliance staff

TVA’s EOC staff is responsible for providing counseling services to employees and applicants, and administering the EEO complaint procedure. The TVA Director of Equal Opportunity Compliance makes final agency decisions on formal complaints of discrimination and has authority to order appropriate corrective actions.

Filing a complaint

If, as a TVA employee or applicant, you believe you have been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and over), physical and/or mental disability, or reprisal, you have a right to seek corrective action by filing a complaint.

You must consult with an EEO counselor before filing a complaint so that an attempt can be made to resolve the matter informally. You must initiate contact with a counselor within 45 days of the date of the matter alleged to be discriminatory or, in the case of a personnel action, within 45 days of the effective date of the action.

EEO counselors must conduct a final interview within 30 days of initial contact, unless the counselee and TVA agree in writing to an extension of counseling for up to an additional 60 days.

See TVA’s definitions of race and national origin.
