Central Contractor Registration

The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the primary vendor database for the U.S. Federal Government. The CCR collects, validates, stores, and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition missions.

Both current and potential federal government vendors are required to register in CCR in order to be awarded contracts by the federal government. Vendors are required to complete a one-time registration to provide basic information relevant to procurement and financial transactions. Vendors must update or renew their registration annually to maintain an active status.

GSA Schedule

Getting on GSA Schedule also known as Multiple Award Schedules (MAS), are contracts that allow federal customers to acquire more than 10 million supplies and services directly from more than 17,000 commercial suppliers. GSA Schedules cover a vast array of commercial items from office supplies and copier paper to systems furniture, from computers to laboratory equipment, and services ranging from accounting to graphic design to landscaping. Customers can order supplies and services using the GSA Advantage!® online ordering system. To become a GSA Schedule contractor, a vendor must first submit an offer in response to the applicable GSA Schedule solicitation. GSA awards contracts to responsible companies that offer commercial items falling within the generic descriptions in the GSA Schedule solicitations.

Federal Business Opportunity (FedBizOps) Data System

FedBizOpps is the single government point-of-entry (GPE) for Federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000. Government buyers are able to publicize their business opportunities by posting information directly to FedBizOpps via the Internet. Through one portal - FedBizOpps (FBO) - commercial vendors seeking Federal markets for their products and services can search, monitor and retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire Federal contracting community.

SUB-NET

Prime contractors use SUB-Net to post subcontracting opportunities. These may or may not be reserved for small business, and they may include either solicitations or other notices. Small businesses can review this web site to identify opportunities in their areas of expertise. While the web site is designed primarily as a place for large businesses to post solicitations and notices, it is also used by Federal agencies, state and local Governments, non-profit organizations, colleges and universities, and even foreign Governments for the same purpose.

The North American Industry Classification System

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is a system for classifying establishments by type of economic activity. Its purposes are: (1) to facilitate the collection, tabulation, presentation, and analysis of data relating to establishments, and (2) to promote uniformity and comparability in the presentation and analysis of statistical data describing the economy. Federal statistical agencies use NAICS to collect or publish data by industry.

The NAICS can assist biobased product providers in identifying the types of industry contracts that the company can support. This is helpful, in that once a company identifies those NAICS codes that it can support searching FedBizOps for procurement opportunities will be more effective.
