Pine Valley Ranger District Announces Completed Trail Work - September 25, 2008

The Forsyth Trail is closed from the Trailhead in Pine Valley to the junction with the Summit Trail. This closure is due to the Forsyth Ridge Wildland Fire Use fire.

For public and firefighter safety, much of the Deep Creek Drainage south of Highway 14 is closed. More specifically, the area closed is east of the Webster Flat Road, south of Highway 14 to the main ridgeline that connects to Midway. Forest Road 31599 (Deep Creek Road), the Virgin River Rim Trail, and any spur roads (e.g., 31601) into the area are closed.

Trail Condition Definitions

Open/Clear: The trail should have no major blow down material blocking traffic. It does not mean that vegetation is not growing in on the trail, or that the tread is eroded away in places.

Probably Clear: Trails that are probably clear, but condition is questionable.

Poor Condition: Trails that are rough, blocked, or overgrown. If people want to hike or ride these trails, then good map and compass skills are needed. Expect to have to cut away some overgrowth to clear the trail for passage.
