Finanancial Aid Available for Students
Grants Awarded to Cosmetology Career School Attendees
Cosmetology student
Considering a career as a barber, esthetician, hair designer or nail technician in Oregon?  Financial aid is available to help fulfill your career goals.

The State Board of Barbers and Hairdressers (now the Board of Cosmetology) in 1986 helped establish the Barber & Hairdresser Grant Program through the Oregon Student Assistance Commission.

The program awards grants annually to Oregon residents studying at state-licensed cosmetology career schools. The program was established with surplus licensing fees from Oregon´s practitioners prior to 1986.

In 2006-07, the individual grant award increased to $1,000 per recipient and the total amount of grant monies awarded since 1986 surpassed one million dollars.
