Bleach Solution OK to Use |
|
If blood or other bodily fluids spill on work surfaces, state regulations require cleaning the contaminated area with either a high-level disinfectant or a bleach solution based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The CDC recommends a solution of one part bleach to 10 parts water (1:10) for heavy spills.

The CDC recommends a solution of one part bleach to 100 parts water (1:100) for lighter spills.
Caution: (1:10) bleach solution is caustic. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Prepare the bleach solution in a well-ventilated area.
What Oregon regulations say:
Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) states: "A high-level disinfectant or bleach solution, used according to the manufacturer's instructions, shall be used to disinfect surfaces contaminated by blood or bodily fluids.”
