Publications and Selected Presentations Using SLAITS Data

This list includes citations that are routinely indexed in standard bibliographic databases as well as other work that may not be indexed (such as working papers, reports, theses or dissertations, or other 'grey literature'*). Although this list is updated periodically, it is most likely incomplete (especially for state-level presentations or reports) because, in part, registration is not required to access SLAITS module data.

SLAITS modules are listed below chronologically by the main period of data collection (usually one calendar year) starting with the most-recently completed module. The design and operations publication for each module completed since 2000 is listed in the first section to make them easier to find, since they are frequently cited. They are also cited in the module-specific sections.

Please send information on any SLAITS-related materials not listed below to slaits@cdc.gov for possible inclusion.

Note to Data Users:

This list attempts to facilitate identification, use, and dissemination of SLAITS-related data products. The words and opinions expressed are those of the author(s), and are not necessarily those of the Department of Health and Human Services, funding agency or organization(s), or data collection contractor(s).

*Grey literature is defined by the Grey Literature Network Service as "information produced on all levels of government, academics, business and industry in electronic and print formats not controlled by commercial publishing i.e. where publishing is not the primary activity of the producing body" (Luxembourg, 1997 - Expanded in New York, 2004); the Grey Literature Network Service, accessed June 6, 2007). Some libraries (such as the University of British Columbia Library) also classify e-mails, faxes, blog postings, wikis, RSS feeds, and podcasts as grey literature to address changes in technology.

Grey literature is not always subject to a rigorous scientific peer review process prior to dissemination. Readers and data users are cautioned to be vigilant and thorough when assessing the quality of these products.
