The
Dietary Guidelines for Americans
are the cornerstone of Federal
nutrition policy and nutrition
education activities.
The Dietary Guidelines are
jointly issued and updated every
5 years by the Departments of
Agriculture (USDA)
and Health and Human Services (HHS).
They provide
authoritative advice for people
two years and older about how
good dietary habits can promote
health and reduce risk for major
chronic diseases.
The 2005 Dietary Guidelines remain the current guidance until the 2010 Dietary Guidelines are published.
 Development of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines
The process for developing the 2010 Dietary Guidelines is under way.

The meeting will be held in the Jefferson Auditorium on October 30 and 31, 2008, from 8:30-4:00 each day. The Federal Register notice provides meeting details.

the 2010 Dietary Guidelines revision process please click the appropriate link below.
Comments can be submitted anytime from now through completion of the Advisory Committee’s report. To ensure consideration of your comment by the Committee for the upcoming public meeting, comments should be
submitted no later than 3 days prior to the closing date of the current Federal Register notice. Comments submitted after that will be considered by the Committee for the next public meeting date.
