Mission: The Wage Standards Division, as an active community participant, assures a lawful working environment by:

  • Equitably administering and enforcing labor laws for which the division is responsible;
  • Being responsible to our customers; and
  • Being a valued and respected resource of the labor laws for which the division is responsible.

 

The Wage Standards Division is assigned the administration of the following labor laws:

SERVICES

Primary activities of the program are:

  • Investigation and hearing of complaints regarding minimum wage, overtime, unpaid wages, illegal deductions, family leave, work injury termination, prevailing wages, child labor, and lie detector tests.
  • Conducting educational workshops and consultative meetings with employers, employees, business associations, labor organizations, and State, federal and county agencies on the assigned labor laws
  • Issuing certificates for the employment of minors, payday exceptions, and special minimum rates
  • Conducting random compliance investigations of employers

If callers stay on the line after listening to the recorded information, they will be connected to a specialist to ask questions or to file a complaint.
