Mission: The Wage Standards Division, as an active community participant, assures a lawful working environment by:
- Equitably administering and enforcing labor laws for which the division is responsible;
- Being responsible to our customers; and
- Being a valued and respected resource of the labor laws for which the division is responsible.
The Wage Standards Division is assigned the administration of the following labor laws:
SERVICES
Primary activities of the program are:
- Investigation and hearing of complaints regarding minimum wage, overtime, unpaid wages, illegal deductions, family leave, work injury termination, prevailing wages, child labor, and lie detector tests.
- Conducting educational workshops and consultative meetings with employers, employees, business associations, labor organizations, and State, federal and county agencies on the assigned labor laws
- Issuing certificates for the employment of minors, payday exceptions, and special minimum rates
- Conducting random compliance investigations of employers
