Every day, Americans make purchase decisions - at the grocery store, the gas pump, filling the propane bottle for their RV, or ordering a delivery of home heating oil. These diverse "daily necessities" have one common ingredient: the trust you can have that everything you weigh, pump or measure is accurate because of a national weights and measures program.

It is the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) and your state weights and measures inspectors that ensure a reliable system - providing confidence that you will get what you pay for.

Oregon's biofuel renewable fuel standard
The 2007 Oregon Legislative Assembly passed House Bill 2210 mandating the use of biodiesel and ethanol in Oregon's motor fuels once production capacity levels for these products are met. To address citizen's concerns about the mandate to blend all gasoline with 10% by volume ethanol, the 2008 Legislative Special Assembly passed Senate Bill 1079 providing exceptions to this blending mandate for very specific applications.

Exceptions to the ethanol mandate
Some specific applications are exempt from the mandate to use ethanol blended gasoline. The Oregon State Marine Board is currently surveying fuel retailers and distributors compiling a list of locations where non-ethanol blended gasoline is available. The results are posted on the Marine Board's website.

Submit a complaint for fuel quality, quantity, or advertising concerns online. A field inspector will investigate your complaint and inform you of the results.
