CDI Interpretive designers
can help develop and implement your interpretive vision, no matter what the size or complexity. Our Interpretive Planning and Design Worksheet [.rtf] can help you begin the planning process.

See our portfolio of completed projects:

Interpretive Master Plans
These include a detailed analysis of facilities, landscape (site), and operations issues that relate to or will affect interpretation on the forest or area. They articulate interpretive themes, goals, and objectives, and make recommendations for media and implementation.

Interpretive Plans and Strategies
This type of plan is site or area specific and provides detailed guidance on the implementation of an interpretive program. If appropriate, it may also include guidance on conservation education, heritage tourism, and/or marketing. It includes an audience analysis, themes and storylines, cost projections, media designs (at the conceptual or competed stage), and timelines.

If the focus of the plan is to be strategic, it will help define a mission, vision, and strategies for accomplishing specific interpretive program tasks within a fairly short time frame and within an established budget.

Exhibit Plans
An exhibit plan develops interpretive concepts and text specific to a particular office, byway, visitor center, or other site. The plan may be a series of conceptual drawings or a finalized design, depending on your needs. Contractors often do exhibit plans.

Interpretive Panels
Alone or in conjunction with other media, thematically designed panels can be an effective form of interpretation. Interpretive panels incorporate text and graphics to communicate a message. They can be fabricated in many ways in a variety of materials, such as high-pressure laminates, fiberglass embedment, porcelain enamel, or anodized aluminum.
