Message from the Director

Aloha!  I’d like to personally invite you to attend the Hawai'i Safety, Opportunity, and Sustainability (Hawai'i SOS) conference at the Hawai'i Convention Center on Friday, September 26, 2008.  The purpose of the conference is to inform employers about the serious risks posed to our workers in Hawai'i, their obligations under the law to provide safe and healthful workplaces for their employees, and how they can get help.

I’d like to acknowledge our conference co-sponsor:  the HIOSH Advisory Committee, the Hawai'i Hoisting Machine Operators Advisory Board (HMOAB), The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)– Hawai'i local section, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) – Hawai'i Chapter, Honolulu Community College, University of California at San Diego – OSHA-TI Ed Center, the Hawai'i Voluntary Protection Program Participants Association (VPPPA)- Hawai'i, and the Veterans of Safety (VOS).  Without their hard work and participation, this conference with its opportunity to learn and share information would not have been possible.
