Forest Health
Many factors influence forest conditions including
fire, wind, insects⁄diseases, and human activities.
Here you'll learn about the management efforts in our region.
Geologic, Mineral, and Energy Resources
Geology affects plants and animals, landforms, caves, water, and fossils. A region´s geology determines its mineral and fossil fuel and development potential.
Invasive
Species
Invasive Species include non-native weeds and other organisms which
outcompete native species.
Horse users can reduce the spread of exotic weeds
in national forests and grasslands by using weed free forage
State & Private Forestry
The State and Private Forestry program provides technical and financial assistance to landowners for forest protection and management and forest product use and marketing
Water
Securing reliable flows of clean water was a prime purpose of the first national forests. History is repeating itself today as we in the Forest Service return to our roots by giving priority to water as the greatest value of national forests.
Pulling for Colorado
A state–wide campaign to raise invasive species public awareness
took place July 12 with a flagship event at Bear Creek Lake Park
in Morrison, Colorado. Approximately 275 people participated in
that event; another 200 to 300 people participated in similar events
across the state. The event was a kick–off to Colorado Weed
Awareness week and was supported by Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado;
Colorado Weed Management Association; the U.S. Forest
Service; and several other county and state organizations.
