New Export Control Training Requirements for Hosts of Foreign National Visitors and Assignees

There is a new export control training requirement for hosts of foreign national visitors and assignees. As a result of a DOE security audit, a new training module has been established for foreign national hosts. This new training is to ensure that hosts are familiar with and understand their export control responsibilities when hosting foreign nationals. This is a short (approximately 20 minutes) web-based training course that is available on-line at no charge at the following web address: http://train.ornl.gov/wbt/fornathost/welcome.htm. There will be a three-month window to allow hosts to complete the training.

Beginning at the first of calendar year 2004, the training certification will be linked to the Personnel Access System (PAS). If export control host training has not been completed, the PAS request cannot be approved. When a request for a visitor or assignee is entered, the host will receive an e-mail reminding him/her of their requirements, with a link to the training module web-site. This is the same process that is currently in place for CounterIntelligence host training. This training is not related to the course required by CounterIntelligence and does not replace it or substitute for it.

If you have any questions, please contact Krystee Ervin in the ORNL Export Control Department at 865.574.7920. The "Host Responsibilities" link on the PAS home page has been updated with the new requirement as well as the information on the host email explaining their responsibilities when hosting foreign national visitors or assignees. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Krystee Ervin the ORNL Export Control Department at 865.574.7920
