CSATS at Penn State helps support and sustain collaborations between scientists and K-12 education.

CSATS administers NASA's Aerospace Education Services Project, with professional development and other education services for teachers in all 50 states and U.S. territories. AESP employs education specialists and support staff at ten NASA centers who travel extensively throughout the United States.

Our 2008-2009 Saturday Science Workshops schedule is here, as is detailed information on past workshops. All workshops are free for teachers of elementary and middle school levels. Act 48 credit is available. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided by CSATS.

Penn State has its own version of the PA Science Standards (pdf, 404kb), with clickable links to instructional materials. It includes new secondary science lessons developed in cooperation with Penn State's GREATT project and lessons on sustainable energy developed in the e21 Project.

Learn more about biofilters in our online publication for teachers, Subject Matters (pdf, 666kb). You can also access past issues on infrared science (pdf, 426kb), carbon nanotubes (pdf, 404kb) and integrated pest management (pdf, 383 kb).

CSATS seeks science teachers from Pennsylvania urban schools or the Philadelphia area for funded research sabbatical fellowships. A flyer (pdf, 44kb) is online. If you'd like more information, please call us at (814) 865-3525.
