EVANS HAILS JUMP IN EXISTING
HOME SALES

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of Commerce Donald L. Evans today praised the skyrocketing demand for existing homes and credited the President’s economic policies.

“President Bush’s economic policies continue to unlock the doors of opportunity and homeownership for millions of Americans. The proof is in the numbers: We have record homeownership levels under the Bush Administration. More than half of all minorities now own a home. Americans are buying homes because this Administration has put more money in their pockets to spend and invest.”

Note: Existing home sales jumped 3.1 percent in September to 6.75 million annualized units, the fastest increase since June.
