CONSUMER CONFIDENCE, RETAIL SALES

Secretary Evans made the following statement regarding University of Michigan’s index of consumer sentiment and October retail sales figures:

“As the holiday shopping season approaches, more Americans are confident that our economy is bouncing back and new jobs are on the way. Growing consumer confidence suggests strong holiday buying momentum. Today's news is reason for encouragement, not complacency. The President will not rest until every American seeking work can find a job.”
