Commerce Secretary Evans and Energy Secretary Abraham Unveil Climate Change Initiatives

Commerce Secretary Don Evans and Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham will unveil the Bush Administration’s strategic plan on long-term global climate variability and change at a press conference on Thursday, July 24. The Climate Change Science Program (CCSP), a joint federal program of President Bush’s Committee on Climate Change Science and Technology Integration developed the new plan.

Evans also is expected to announce an additional initiative aimed at improving mankind’s understanding of global climate change and the ability for all nations to participate in the dialogue.

The Climate Change Science Program is a cooperative effort among 13 governmental agencies, and is charged with overseeing the Congressionally-mandated U.S. Global Climate Research Program (USGCRP) and the Climate Change Research Initiative (CCRI).
