Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Race for the Cure logo
The Susan G. Komen Knoxville Race for the Cure is held annually in downtown Knoxville, to raise funds for breast cancer research. The ORNL Committee for Women sponsors the efforts to recruit members, for Team UT-Battelle for this race. Team UT-Battelle has won the largest corporate team award for the last four consecutive years. The 2003 team had 192 members and UT-Battelle hopes to go over the 200 member mark this year and bring home a fifth award for the largest corporate team.

The Knoxville Komen Race for the Cure is now the largest charitable race in the Knoxville area and raises thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and education. UT-Battelle raised over $4500 in 2003 of the approximately $400,000 total.

The 2004 race will be held in Knoxville on October 9.
