Legislators, Local Governments WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Bob Judge today
joins the Office of Advocacy as Regional Advocate for the federal government’s
Region III, covering Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania,
West Virginia, and Virginia. He will be the direct link between small business
owners, state and local government agencies, state legislators, small business
associations, and the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business
Administration (SBA). “Bob Judge will be a great member of President Bush’s small business team,”
said Thomas M. Sullivan, Chief Counsel for Advocacy. “His experience in dealing
with regulatory issues faced by small businesses will allow him to immediately
help entrepreneurs combat overly burdensome government regulations.” As Secretary of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Ridge
Administration, Judge worked to make tax compliance less burdensome for small
business. Under his leadership, the department reduced the paperwork processing
for small business and introduced electronic filing for many tax applications
and other filing requirements. Judge also worked with legislative leaders and members of the Ridge
Administration to draft legislation that reduced the corporate net income tax
and eliminated the minimum capital stock and franchise tax. Moreover, he worked
closely with the leadership and members of small business trade organizations to
make sure that proposed tax regulations and requirements would not have a
negative effect on entrepreneurs. Judge received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and
a Masters of Public Administration from Widener University, Chester, Pa. He has
worked in various levels of government helping improve and streamline the way
small business owners deal with government agencies. “I am excited to be able to use my knowledge of regulatory issues to help
small business and promote policies that strengthen entrepreneurship,” said
Judge. “I look forward to being a part of the Office of Advocacy and to the
opportunity of bringing the concerns of small business owners in Region III to
Washington, D.C.” Regional Advocates help identify new issues and concerns of small business
owners. They also monitor the impact of federal and state policies on small
business at the local level. They work closely with local government officials,
state officials, legislators, and the Chief Counsel for Advocacy to develop
programs and policies that reduce regulation and promote small business growth. For more information, call Bob Judge at (215) 580-2703 or visit the Office of
