Ross, Lincoln, Pryor Announce Funds for Gould for Utilities Relocation

Washington – Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) along with U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor announced today that that Lincoln County will receive $34,353 from the Delta Regional Authority to assist the city of Gould in the relocation of water and sewer utilities due to the widening of U.S. Highway 65.

“These much needed dollars will help the city of Gould as it makes adjustments for the expansion of Highway 65,” said Ross.  “Enhancing our highways and interstates is critical for economic development and these funds help our communities meet the growing needs of our state.”

“With the expansion of Highway 65, residents of Gould and other travelers will be able to more easily and safely reach their destinations. These funds will allow the city to proceed with the necessary relocation of water and sewer utilities, ensuring a smooth transition as the area improves critical infrastructure,” said Lincoln.

“The smooth relocation of Gould’s water and sewer lines is critical to the health and safety of area residents,” said Pryor.  “I commend local and federal officials for working together to proactively address Arkansas’s infrastructure needs now in order to ensure economic growth for the future.”

The Delta Regional Authority is a federal-state partnership working to stimulate economic growth in the 8-state Delta region along the southern half of the Mississippi River.  One of its goals is to prepare a transportation plan that will support business, industrial and economic growth, as well as allow the citizens of the Delta to seek employment at existing growth and economic centers.
