International Training DivisionInternational Training Division

The International Training Division (ITD) is the backbone of the United States Coast Guard’s effort to provide training worldwide. Each year, working with the International Affairs staff, members of ITD travel to countries around the globe providing technical training and consulting services in maritime law enforcement, marine safety and environmental protection, small boat operation and maintenance, search and rescue, port security and infrastructure development for countries with waterway law enforcement programs. Additionally, ITD supports Operation Tradewinds, CARAT, PANAMAX, and UNITAS. In 2004, ITD conducted 133 deployments in 61 countries providing instruction to nearly 1600 students.

ITD personnel receive training in counter-terrorism, force protection, survival skills, and advanced training in their specialty fields. They are cross-trained in several Coast Guard missions. In addition, many ITD personnel are sent to language immersion training before deploying abroad.

We are located at the United States Coast GuardTraining Center Yorktown, Virginia.
