Sergeant Major 

Sergeant Major Charles T. Blumenberg Jr, USMC

Sergeant Major Blumenberg serves as the Regimental Sergeant Major for Wounded Warrior Regiment.

Sergeant Major Charles T. Blumenberg was born in Miami, Florida on April 4, 1962. He enlisted in the Marine Corps’ delayed entry program in November 1979, and attended Recruit Training in August 1980 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, PISC.

Following completion of Recruit Training and subsequently Track Vehicle Repairman Armor School, Aberdeen MD, Private Blumenberg was transferred to D Company, 8th Tank Bn, FMFR where he served as a Track Vehicle Repairman from December 1980 through August 1982. Upon reenlistment into the FMF LCpl Blumenberg was assigned as a Track Vehicle Repairman at 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, California.

In June 1986, he received orders to 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd FSSG, Okinawa, Japan where he served as a Track Vehicle Repairman.

Sergeant Blumenberg was next assigned to CSSG-1, 1st FSSG, 29 Palms Ca. as the Tank Maintenance Chief. While assigned there, he received orders to 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd FSSG as the SNCOIC of tank maintenance for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

After completing the Staff Noncommissioned Officers Career Course December 1992, SSgt Blumenberg returned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, PISC, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Gunnery Sergeant.

Upon completion of Drill Instructor duty his next assignment was Marine Corps Detachment, M1A1 Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky where he served as a Tank Maintenance Instructor.

In August 1998, GySgt Blumenberg was assigned as the Inspector/Instructor Tank Maintenance Chief, Delta Co, 8th Tank Battalion, Eastover, South Carolina. Upon his promotion to First Sergeant on May 2001 he was appointed to the position of Inspector/Instructor Staff First Sergeant.

Then in August 2003 his next assignment was Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, California as the Company First Sergeant participating in support of OIF II, Al Anbar Province, Fallujah, Iraq.

Promoted to Sergeant Major in December 2004 he assumed the billet as 1st Battalion, 5th Marines Battalion Sergeant Major participating in support of OIF 04-06, Al Anbar Province, Ramadi, Iraq.

In March 2006, Sergeant Major Blumenberg assumed the duties as the Battalion Sergeant Major for Marine Combat Training Battalion, SOI (West).

Then in May 2007, he transferred to the Wounded Warrior Regiment where he now serves

His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with “V”, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold stars in lieu of fourth award and Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award, as well as, numerous unit and service awards.
