NPCR Programs Certified by NAACCR

In 1997, the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) instituted a program that annually reviews member registries for their ability to produce complete, accurate, and timely data. The registry certification program then recognizes those registries meeting the highest standards of data quality with Gold or Silver recognition certificates for each data year. For the 2004 certification process, the following 37 CDC-supported NPCR registries achieved these high standards for their 2002 data (these states are shown in green on the map below):

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

For lists of registries achieving certification in previous data years, please visit the NAACCR Web site.*

¹State registries for Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico, and Utah are funded through the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program (shown in yellow on the map). All are NAACCR-certified based on 2002 data. For 2002 data, registries for Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Wyoming, along with Puerto Rico, Republic of Palau, and the Virgin Islands, did not achieve certification and are shown in pale yellow on the map.
