GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Oval to rounded crown, open in form, fast growing.
ADAPTABILITY:
Rich moist well drained soil; Tolerates drier soil but grows slower.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade tree, naturalizing; best in a park, golf course, or other large area.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Nuts are a litter problem, shouldn't use in heavily trafficked areas. Black
walnuts secrete juglone which inhibits the growth of nearby plants.
