Your impairment must be the main reason you cannot work. You will not be found disabled as defined in §507.1 if you are physically and mentally able to do any of your past relevant work or any other kind of work that exists in significant numbers in the national economy.

We do not consider any of the following reasons for unemployment when we make a disability determination:

  1. Inability to get work;

  2. Lack of work in local area;

  3. Hiring practices of employers;

  4. Technological changes in the industry in which you worked;

  5. Cyclical economic conditions;

  6. No job openings;

  7. Not actually being hired to do work you could otherwise do; or

  8. Not wanting to do a particular type of work.
