AAHSA Calls on Congress to Raise Housing, HCBS, Medicaid Funding
One of Congress' top priorities before it adjourns for the end of the year must be a spending bill for the next fiscal year that begins Oct. 1. Congress also should consider an increase in federal Medicaid funding to help states strapped for cash avoid cutting payments to nursing homes and home care providers. Senate Committee Approves Elder Justice, Background Check Legislation
The Elder Justice Act and legislation to expand a criminal background check program for long-term care workers nationwide came one step closer to Senate passage on Sept. 10, as the Senate Finance Committee approved the two bills. The full Senate has not scheduled them for floor consideration, however, and the limited time left in the present Congress leaves their prospects unclear.
