    Introduction

For the fourth straight year, the Office of Advocacy is releasing its analysis of call report data collected by the
Federal Reserve on the lending activity of some 9,300 individual reporting commercial banks. The information
is organized on a state-by-state basis to enable small business borrowers and depositors to make better
decisions about the banking services in their respective states. Four studies result from this analysis and
    each is provided here.

Small Business Lending in the United States

This is an annual study published by the Office of Advocacy ranking commercial banks' lending performance to small businesses by state.

  • Introductory discussion (text of the report)

  • View tables for each state - While the printed study contains two tables, they are combined for viewing and
downloading. Table 1 ranks banks for a selected state. Table 2, which is represented by a "Y" for yes in the small business friendly bank column on the viewable table, lists the top small-business-friendly banks by bank size for a selected state. Small businesses seeking loans from small-business-friendly banks should also consider banks
that participate in SBA loan programs. To locate the SBA preferred or certified lender nearest to your business,
    call 1-800-8-ASK-SBA or check SBA's home page at http://www.sba.gov. SBL = Small-business-lending,
SBF = Small-business-friendly. (Source: Office of Economic Research, Office of Advocacy, U.S. Small Business Administration from call report data.)

Download table data for all states - This is a self-extracting executable file containing a tab delimited text file with the
directory of banks by state which can be used with spread sheet software.

View table 3 - The number of banks in each asset size grouped by state.
