NOTE TO EDITORS:

EIA's Weekly Retail Gasoline Price Data Now Cover Additional Cities and States

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) is expanding its market coverage of weekly retail gasoline prices effective May 27, 2003. In addition to its previous coverage of five regions, five states, and six cities, EIA will now publish weekly retail gasoline prices for the cities of Boston, Cleveland, Miami, and Seattle, and for the States of Florida, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Washington.

EIA's expanded coverage for gasoline prices is in response to increased concerns of the public and transportation industry over price volatility in gasoline markets and price differences within geographic regions. The new data will provide businesses, individual consumers, and government agencies that monitor fuel prices with current fuel cost information.

Data are collected every Monday and are available the same day by 5:00 PM Eastern Time at:

http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_home_page.html

or by contacting the National Energy Information Center at (202) 586-8800. On weeks with a Federal holiday on Monday, the data will be released by 5:00 PM on Tuesday.

For further information, contact Jake Bournazian in EIA's Office of Oil and Gas at (202) 586-1256.
