Boris

Hey there! My name is Boris. I’m a yellow Lab. I was born on Feb. 15, 2006, and I weigh about 67 pounds. I was brought up in a program called “Puppies Behind Bars.” My trainers there taught me how to sit and stay. On the weekends, I stayed with families that volunteered to look after me; I was with a new family each weekend. It got me used to people and children. I love being around people. And I especially like to play with kids who grab my tail.

BorisWhen I was 1, I learned how to smell for explosive odors. I loved the training because I learned that when I found an explosive odor, I would get food. And … I love to eat! During the training, I met my partner, K-9 Officer Eric. We formed a wonderful friendship. Officer Eric and I learned how to work together; we are an excellent team. Officer Eric and I now work together at the CIA.

I love my house because it’s close to the Chesapeake Bay. One of my favorite things is to walk to the Bay and jump in. At first, I was scared to swim. But Officer Eric threw my favorite toy far out in the water. It would have drifted away if I didn’t jump in after it. I’m fearless now, and I often scare Officer Eric when I swim so far out in the water. I am a retriever after all!

When I sit around the house I always need my Redskins blanket near me, if it’s not hanging from my mouth. I love to play fetch with anyone who wants to play. Sometimes, I pretend that I am tough dog. I will play bite and wrestle with Officer Eric and his friends, but I would never actually bite or hurt anybody.

I am lucky to have a cool job protecting people and a great partner who loves me. I get along with my fellow K-9’s at work, but I still think I’m the cutest of them all.
