The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wishes to remind everyone that the end of old-fashioned analog TV service is fast approaching. The final date for conversion from analog to digital TV is February 17, 2009. In support of the FCC’s outreach effort, we have included this link, which will provide every consumer with what they need to know about this important development: www.dtv.gov.

2008 Public Television Digital Transition Grant Program

These grants assist Public Television Stations serving substantial rural populations in transitioning to digital broadcast television transmission, as mandated by the Federal Communications Commission. Grant funds may be used to acquire and install facilities and software necessary for the transition. Grant funds may also be used for associated engineering and environmental studies.

2008 General Information

  • A total of $4.965 million is available in a grant competition for eligible Public Television Stations. The maximum amount per public television station is $750,000.
