Important News Regarding this Web Site

Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command is consolidating the command's web presence in accoradance with Department of the Defense (DoD) and Navy guidance. The U. S. Naval Oceanography portal will be the single access point for all public facing Meteorology and Oceanography products and services. This publicly-accessible portal is currently online at http://www.usno.navy.mil and is being populated. In the near future, non-DoD users will be redirected to this portal.

DoD customers can access all operational data, products and services via the NIPRnet Naval Oceanography Portal site at https://oceanography.navy.mil (CAC requried).

Operational oceanographic products have been available on NAVOCEANO's Web page, since its debut in 1996. Naval oceanographic specialists collect the data necessary to create products used by members of the Department of Defense around the world.

Its subordinate commands, the Fleet Survey Team and the Naval Ice Center, also contribute to the NAVOCEANO mission.

"Check out" some of the 400,000 volumes of information in the Library. Containing the world's foremost military collection of physical oceanography materials, from modern media to handwritten 18th-century ships' logs, the library is a valuable resource for Navy, government, academic and industry scientists.
