HGP Sequencing Progress*

Graph at right depicts progress toward generating a working draft of the human genome by spring 2000 and a complete, high-quality reference human DNA sequence by 2003. Sequences from roughly one-quarter of the human genome have been deposited into GenBank (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Genbank), and several individual chromosomes are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
