OSHA Forms Partnership With Odessa, Texas, Company to Promote Workplace Safety

ODESSA, Texas -- Promoting workplace safety is the goal of a partnership signed by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Reliant Holdings Ltd. of Odessa, Texas.

OSHA Strategic Partnerships for Worker Safety and Health is part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative relationships with trade associations, labor organizations and employers. OSHA's area office in Lubbock, Texas, is representing the agency in this partnership.

Reliant Holdings, headquartered at 3700 Kermit Highway, Odessa, serves customers in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. The company provides several different grades of carbon dioxide (CO2) to oilfield companies and also produces higher quality CO2 for food and medical applications.

"This partnership will provide opportunities to build trust, provide information about best practices and leverage resources to maximize worker safety," said John Miles, OSHA's regional administrator in Dallas.

Partnerships enable organizations committed to workplace safety and health to work cooperatively with OSHA. This partnership will be consistent with OSHA's long-range efforts to develop a business-government approach to safety and health management. It will be the stepping-stone in Reliant's overall goal of achieving membership in OSHA's prestigious Voluntary Protection Program for work sites with outstanding safety and health programs.

Employers and employees with questions about this or other OSHA partnerships may call the Lubbock area office at (806) 472-7681 or visit OSHA's Web site at www.osha.gov and click on "Cooperative Programs."

Since its Strategic Partnership Program began in 1998, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has formed more than 300 partnerships impacting over 13,000 employers and 573,000 employees across the United States. Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships, and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health.
