U.S. Labor Department's OSHA construction safety course to be presented in White Plains, N.Y., on May 29 and 30 for New York construction industry
Course will help English-, Spanish-speaking employees meet new state requirement

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Beginning July 18, state law will require that all laborers, employees and mechanics working on New York state public works projects of $250,000 or more be certified as having successfully completed the U.S. Department of Labor¿s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour construction safety and health course.

To help New York construction employees and employers meet that requirement, OSHA¿s Tarrytown Area Office, the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. Empire State Chapter (ABC) and the New York State Department of Labor¿s Division of Safety and Health¿s On-Site Consultation Program will present the course on Thursday, May 29, and Friday, May 30, at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Park Ave., White Plains, N.Y. The course will run each day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.

The two-day course, to be presented in English and Spanish, will cover excavation and electrical safety, fall protection, chemical hazard communication, and other construction safety and health topics. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants on both days.
