OSHA SCHEDULES CONSTRUCTION HAZARDS BREAKFAST SEMINAR FOR NEW ENGLAND SMALL BUSINESS EMPLOYERS ON MAY 8, 2001, IN WALTHAM, MASS.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the U.S. Department of Labor and the Greater Boston Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) are co-sponsoring a breakfast seminar entitled the Top Four Hazards in Construction on Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Waltham, Mass.

The session is mainly for the benefit of small business employers in the construction industry, but is open to general industry employers as well. The purpose of the seminar is to provide these employers with an overview of major construction hazards and furnish them with various resources and references to help them address these hazards in their workplaces in order to prevent construction accidents before they happen. According to OSHA statistics, the top four hazards on construction sites are: falls from elevations, struck by, caught in/between, and electrical shock hazards.

  WHEN: Tuesday, May 8, 2001 - 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
     
  WHERE: Best Western Inn, 477 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA
     
  COST: $15.00 Payment will be accepted at the door. A continental breakfast will be served
     
  REGISTRATION: Please contact the Greater Boston Chapter of ASSE at (781) 356-2060, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration must be completed by May 4, 2001.

The presentation will be given by Patrick Griffin, OSHA's compliance assistance specialist for Massachusetts, who has many years of experience dealing with workplace safety and health issues in the construction industry.
