CARMEL, Pa. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will officially induct International Paper, Mt. Carmel, Pa. into its Voluntary Protection Program as a STAR site at a special flag ceremony on Wed., Aug. 14 at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the company's facility, located at 1008 Locust Gap Highway, Mt. Carmel, Pa. Richard Soltan, OSHA regional administrator, will make the presentation. International Paper manufactures paper products. The Mt. Carmel site is noted for having three-year recordable injuries and lost workday incidence rates that are 59 and 60 percent below the industry average respectively. It is one of 67 International Paper facilities nationwide to receive this honor. The STAR program, designed for worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health programs, is open to any industry, and to companies with injury rates below the industry's national average. ###
