OSHA Teams Up For Safety and Health Workshop for Educators in Boise, Idaho

SEATTLE -- The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is co-sponsoring a free Construction and General Industry OSHA 10-hour Safety and Health Workshop for Idaho high school and post secondary professional technical instructors on Oct. 7 and 8 at the Washington Group International headquarters building, 720 Park Boulevard in Boise. Co-sponsors include Idaho Associated General Contractors (AGC), Washington Group International (WGI), Snake River American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the Idaho Division of Professional Technical Education.

Instructors will learn OSHA regulations, hazard identification, hazard avoidance, and hazard control and hazard prevention and become familiar with reading and using the OSHA Standards for construction (1926) and general industry (1910). Upon completion of the two-day workshop the participants will receive two completion cards, one for construction and one for general industry. The 10-Hour workshop is a certification recognized by the industry as essential safety training for entry-level employees and will provide instructors with required information to obtain the certification.

The technology instructors will receive the skills to teach employer expectations and the higher degree of safety needed for their projects and in the workplace. The sponsoring partners plan to offer a weeklong train-the-trainer workshop for the Professional Technical Instructors who want to teach the 10-Hour certification workshop to their students.
