Safety and Health for Western NY's Future Construction Workers BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Orchard Park-based Lehigh Construction Group, Inc. have renewed an alliance for two more years to teach construction safety to students in western New York vocational schools and community colleges. OSHA health and safety alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships. "The continuation of our collaboration is vital to ensure that effective safety and health training is delivered to future construction workers through western New York vocational schools and community colleges," said Patrician K. Clark, OSHA regional administrator. "This training will save lives, and we're delighted that Lehigh Construction Group will continue working with us." Over the past year and a half, OSHA and Lehigh representatives have made presentations at area vocational schools to help students recognize hazards that lead to most injuries and deaths in construction work. Feedback from students and teachers has been extremely positive. Clark and Arthur Dube, area director for OSHA's Buffalo office signed the renewal for OSHA. Signing for Lehigh were David Knauss, President and Thomas Glomb, Vice President. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has created more than 230 alliances with organizations committed to fostering safety and health in the workplace.
