Two-dimensional wing

Figure (a) illustrates a two-dimensional wing, whereby the airfoil section at station A is the same as at station B or anywhere along the span, and the wing is limitless in span. To ensure that there is no spanwise variation of the airfoil section aerodynamic characteristics, the two-dimensional wing should span the wind tunnel from one side to the other, as shown in figure (b).
