U.S. Defense Institute of International Legal Studies Conducts Training on Peacekeeping Operations

U.S. Ambassador Cesar Cabrera attended the graduation ceremony of forty-five participants of the U.S. Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) training seminar on Peacekeeping Operations.  The participants included Mauritian Police officers and State Law representatives.

Four instructors from the DIILS of Newport, Rhode Island, U.S., conducted a week-long training seminar from September 8 to 12 at Diamond Hall, Mobile Wing, in Vacoas.  The topics covered included an overview of the UN Charter and UN Mandates, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Mauritian involvement in Peace Operations, the Law of Armed Conflict and Rules of Engagement in Peace Operations, and other aspects of peacekeeping in accordance to the Rule of Law.  The U.S Embassy organized the training seminar as part of its International Military Education Training Program (IMET).
