Fraxinus nigra--Black Ash

Height: 50 ft Spread: 25 ft Form: upright
Type: deciduous tree
Annual Growth Rate: 12 to 18 inches

Comments: Black ash is adapted to moist soils. The tree
is very cold tolerant but has no outstanding ornamental
trait. The fall foliage color is yellow.

Cultivars:
'Fallgold' - This seedless cultivar (Vis. 1) produces a
long display of golden yellow fall foliage.
'Northern Gem' - A hybrid between F. nigra and F.
mandshurica. An oval form and good vigor are combined
with little seed production.
'Northern Treasure' - A hybrid with upright growth.
