THE SURETY BOND
GUARANTEE PROGRAM
If your small construction, service or supply
company bids on projects requiring surety
bonds,
the U.S. Small Business Administration has a
program
to help. Through its surety bond guarantee
program, the SBA assists small businesses in
obtaining required bonds on federal, state,
local
and commercial construction projects and on
service and supply contracts and sub
contracts.
The SBA will guarantee bonds on contracts up
to
$2 million for small businesses that
otherwise
couldn’t obtain bonds through standard
channels.
Small businesses must meet SBA eligibility
requirements and size standards and should
apply
for a specific bond with a surety company or
agent
of their choice. Background, credit and
financial
information are needed for the application.
SBA
assistance in locating a participating surety
